DJ Marxsi Chops It Up With Joe Young

Right now are good times for Lovers of hip hop with substance. The Lox coming back with an album, J Cole declared War on every “wack” rapper in sight and the Wu Tang Clan has groomed a solider of their own. Over the last couple of years, the artist by the Name of Joe Young has learnt from what most would call one of the greatest rap crews of all time.

Taking notes, working on his craft, being mentored by Wu Tang Clan’s Cappadonna & Inspectah Deck and restructuring ‘Wu Wear’ with his partners in Germany, Joe’s mission is to re-establish the feeling according to him “we have all been missing” when listening to “real” hip hop. While the Clan is going through its own turmoil, trial and tribulations leaving fans in suspense for new music, Joe Young and Legendary Beatsmith ‘Dame Grease’ came together to build a piece of music that will stand the test of time. “Invincible Armour” is the outcome. The Album features the Wu Tang elite, Method Man, Raekwon, Cappadonna, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa & more.

This Album is a testimony of Celebration, bringing the sound back that made ‘Enter the 36 Chambers‘ & ‘Wu Tang Forever’ arguably the best albums the Clan put out.

During his stop in London after touring in Europe supporting Ghostface Killah, he sat down with our very own DJ Marxsi to talk about how he plans to take on the hip hop world in his own way and what makes him stand out from the rest.

Check him out on The Weekend Mix with DJ Marxsi on Saturday 21st October from 4-7pm

Wu-Tang clan-inspired mural on climate change in Island

The mural has both the direct involvement and the blessing of several Wu-Tang members and Redman, and Prez received help from the kids at IS61. Using the hashtag #HurricaneWu, Prez not only created a community-based project, but he spoke to worldwide themes by promoting climate change awareness. The goal with the #HurricaneWu initiative is to spark interest from the younger generation, who’ll ultimately grow into lawmakers that can implement environmental protection legislation.

The Wu-Tang Clan is breaking new ground for their next ...

The Year 2018 marks a special year for the Wu-Tang Clan, as not only is it the 25th anniversary of their debut album, Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), but they will also be releasing a brand new album together as a group.

According to an interview with Billboard, the recording for the new album is currently underway, with an unexpected twist. Rather than having RZA pilot the ship, as is tradition for a Wu-Tang album, Ghostface Killah will be the one to decide which direction to take the new album.

“He’s putting that together as we speak,” says Masta Killa. “There will be another Wu-Tang Clan album. We’re working on that right now, and hopefully it’s ready right with the 25th anniversary.”

RZA isn’t being cut out of the creative process entirely, of course. He’s reportedly still there supervising the operation, but the leadership is coming from Ghostface this time. This isn’t entirely surprising considering how badly the concept for their Once Upon A Time In Shaolin album went, having been purchased by Martin Shkreli and confiscated by federal authorities.

“He just gives it a new outlook and a fresh coat of eyes and ears,” according to Inspectah Deck. “Ghost has taken it upon himself to say, ‘I want to get the beats, I want to hear some things that’s happening here,’ so we’re trusting him the same we trusted RZA in the beginning. Why not, man? Ghost has been successful in his solo endeavors. It’s a change of pace. Hopefully we get another banger, another Wu classic out of this project as well, in the 25th anniversary.”

The 25th anniversary of 36 Chambers will be on November 9, 2018.
